About M.C

The path the Metal Cracker took from the beginning was a very hard one.It first started out as a free wordpress blog with an average of 30 hits a day.Not the best way for a blog to start.Fed up with the limited capacities within a free blog,I nearly gave up blogging about Metal.Things seemed to be turning back to normal after I won this domain thanks to slblogs.Wait, did I just say normal?Make that better because as I said, normal for this blog was always 30 hits a day.

But things didn’t go as smoothly as I expected.I will not go to details on how I struggled to get this blog to where you see it now.But after more than a month of desperation with various themes and plugins and other RSS curses, the Metal Cracker is now rocking harder and stronger than ever since the 15th March,2008 as it became a daily, online metal newspaper.

I prefer to use the term newspaper over magazine, because newspaper sounds more raw, streetwise and better still,it sounds daily and consistent. Many of those daily newspapers you know, have special weekend editions. The Metal Cracker also has its special editions. But due to the known “Weekend Subscriber Drop” for online magazines, I mean newspapers and of course blogs in general, instead of the weekend editions, the Metal Cracker will feature its special editions on Thursdays and Fridays.Every Thursday, the Metal Cracker features a metal video in its front page. This segment covers notable elements in the select song’s music, its influence on rock and roll, controversies surrounding it if any,and of course the band/artiste.This video will be selected every week by none other than you. The Metal Cracker will run a weekly poll of five options to pick the Metal Video of the week. The video will stay in the front page for one week before it is replaced by another. The song to get the lowest amount of votes will be eliminated from the poll after its first week, along with the selected Metal Video of the week.Song(s) that do not make it to the top,but get more votes than the lowest voted song(s),will be eliminated after two weeks.Should there be tie in either for the top voted song or the song to be eliminated,it will solely be the Metal Cracker’s liberty to pick what stays and what goes.Every Friday, the Metal Cracker features a band in its Featured Band section in the front page of the site. Each selected band will stay there for one week. The main intention of this segment is to create a platform for unsigned bands. But of course,if the Metal Cracker finds a certain signed, but “yet to become the next Iron Maiden or Slayer” band too hot to resist, they will also be featured here.If you would like  your band to appear as the Featured Band contact the Metal Cracker here.Five Minutes Alone,Reviews,Expecting and Equipment are some of the other segments,to name a few.Five Minutes Alone-where Metal Cracker features a special interview- and Reviews are most likely be featured in the special Thursday and Friday editions. But like before, irresistable articles will not follow this rule very seriously. Most of the interviews are unfortunately online interviews as I am not in a position to take a camera crew and/or photographers with me from Sri Lanka to interview artistes touring the world. This makes sense.

Some very talented, experienced Sri Lankan Heavy Musicians,I mean Hunks(am I right Ladies?) will occasionally contribute with their guest posts. You can expect some high quality content from them because they are specially selected by the Metal Cracker after taking their expertise and commitment to the industry into consideration.

If you wish to get your daily dose of metal to your(….doorstep is a bit impossible, how about….)Feed Reader or Email inbox, consider subscribing to the Metal Cracker. To read the Metal Cracker daily in your favourite feed reader click here,if you prefer good old e-mail,you may subscribe to us here.

We currently cannot provide the booze, but we’ll surely keep trying.Blame it on the Internet!!!
