As predicted SlipKnot’s “All Hope is Gone” rocks!!!
In an earlier post I said that I was loving what I heard in the new SlipKnot single “All Hope is Gone”-got a few comments from two dudes who seemed to be in their early teens and touching weird places on their bodies-looking at Fred Durst’s pictures. They had also completely lost what I said but Hornet saved!!!
Anyways this new song “All Hope is Gone” is available for download at Road-Runner,you’ll have to sign up for their newsletter. It’s quite good really, as I predicted.
Let’s not go into a deep analytical mode and discuss about it’s musical roots and the technical elements and blah!blah! because you don’t that with SlipKnot. It’s more of “I hate everything,SlipKnot hates everything,I love SlipKnot” kind of thing.
The song has effectively pulled modern Death Metal-esque elements and hint of thrash into the signature Corey Taylor sound backed by the easily recognizable Sid Wilson scratches. Though it’s still not Lamb of God-the most amazing thing about it is, SlipKnot have actually proven they can craft memorable metal masterpieces while still remaining solidly on their modern image.
Lyrically,it’s the same angyr SlipKnot we remember from songs like Disaster Piece (I” wanna slit your throat and fuck the wound”-it couldn’t have gotten more metal than that!) but in this song it’s more of a “Universal” attempt rather than the same boring “I hate you,see you in hell” kind of thing.

The state of the nation - violation!
A broken promise is as good as a lie.
The hell is humongous, the devil’s among us
And we will burn because we won’t unite!
We won’t witness anymore freedom.
What does anybody do with freedom?
I would rather fight,
Than let another die.
We’re the problem,
But we’re also the solution.
ALL HOPE IS GONE!!!
On a final note-this is not Corey Taylor, this is SlipKnot. They seem to be recovering very strongly from their previous “Volume 3-the Subliminal Verses” which featured Corey’s “Stone Sour” influences a lot! This is pure SlipKnot here.
And by the way-that’s actually a guitar solo I heard!

Was looking forward to listen to the album. After listening to “All Hope Is Gone” i changed my mind
I prefer their older albums man, works before Iowa… that was some good shit. “all hope is gone” sounds like HIM gone brutal.
