I really need the SLAYER book-”The Bloody Reign of SLAYER”
“The Bloody Reign of SLAYER” has to be undoubtably the one publication I’ve waited for so eagerly after my first science book.Irony is one of those little things that can make our lives happier, believe me though lame it may sound.
Anyways,The bloody Reign of SLAYER-the book is called. And if you’ve been a keen
reader of popular metal/rock/guitar mags like Total Guitar,Kerrang!,Metal Hammer etc..the name Joel McIver must be a familiar name to you. That’s the man who wrote Sabbath Bloody Sabbath dudes! You can’t forget that.
Hats off to you Joel.
SLAYER-with its history that’s older than me-has become one of the biggest household names, and you know only too well it’s gonna kick some major ass when an “11-book” old author writes his 12th one on SLA-fucking-YER!
Judging by the excerpts available at McIver’s web site,The Bloody Reign of SLAYER is truely a biographical biography,a biography that reinforces the true sense of the word biography,a biography that talks about THE BAND-not a note to note analysis of every song SLAYER has written and compiled under the sell-able name of Biography.Of course there are certain places where McIver goes into detail about songs, but look at it like this. Here’s this band, you are written their biography and DAMN!They also happen to be the very band who has written Angle of Death. Can you even imagine of a SLAYER biography without a note on Angle of Death?
“Angel Of Death, was – quite apart from its musical qualities – a shock to the established Slayer fan because it sounded so crisp and immediate. The murky shroud that obscured the finer elements of songs on the earlier records was gone, whisked away as if by a breath of ice-cold air: King’s opening guitar riff, although loaded with distortion, stands out clearly at all frequencies. It’s interesting to speculate how much of this came directly from Rubin, his skilled engineer Andy Wallace (who went on to be a much in-demand metal producer in his own right) or simply from the superior LA studio and mastering facilities which could be used thanks to the ample Def Jam budget.”….goes Joel on Angle of Death. You can read more of this at his official web site.
To keep a story that can get very long,I mean VERY long(it’s SLAYER we are talking about here)-this is a must’ve have book for any Heavy Metal enthusiast. It’s going to be literally the new testament of SLAYER.

[...] And earlier this year my world was about to break into pieces when I saw Mark “Barney” Greenway’s (Napalm Death and Extreme Noise Terror) comments on Slayer. If I remember it right what he said was something like “I’d be surprised if Slayer were around this time next year — put it like that.” More here at the Headbangers’ Blog.
