Metal,suicide,My Chemical Romance and EMO
Before I go into anything,my deepest sympathies go out to 13 year old Hannah’s family.Hannah committed suicide and blame is being put on My Chemical Romance.Rest in Peace Hannah.Read this article for more.
To keep it simple,I am not at all sorry for My Chemical Romance,the articles say their lyrics promote self harm and suicide.Honestly I can’t be bothered to research on their lyrics and their “subliminal messages”, ’cause they are MCR and they are not metal.EMO is not metal!But as you can already see,some newspapers,web sites and even some rock magazines are making this controversy that’s been there for a long,long time into a money making machine.You remember my line-controversy creates cash (That’s actually Eric Bishoff’s line).What I am trying to say is ;
(a)STOP,Hannah is already dead and you are making money out of it.This is pathetic.
(b)Do whatever you want with MCR,but keep Metal out of this shit!I do not know 
whether EMO really promotes suicide,because I can’t be bothered to research on it like I said.But I can tell you this metal never promotes self-harm,it’s just the opposite.It’s the one place where this tremendously huge “army” of people gather together and enjoy life.Former Drowning Pool mainman,the late Dave Williams said “It’s never a bad thing to knock back a couple of beers and just go crazy at a gig”.Metal is all about enjoying life,of course it goes much deeper into very broad topics like religion,sexuality,war,conflict and you know what else.Metal is the place where it’s followers seek asylum in,get together and enjoy life.(Suggested song-Cult/SLAYER(Christ Illusion,2006))
Unfortunately though,this shitty,commercialised garbage under the name of EMO also falls under rock,because EMO’s musical anatomy is deeply rooted within rock,very sad.I hope I don’t have to explain this,do your bitchin’ homework and come back.But like I said,EMO is not metal.
As we all know the complexity of Metal,both musically and lyrically,makes it very hard to understand.It has been able to stand on its own and as serious form of art,an improvisatory form of art.The term “improviser” explains both Yngwie Malmsteen and Robert Frost.It’s definitely much more than what the average EMO fan in their early teens can figure out.Listen closely to Ozzy Osbourne’s controversial “Suicide Solution”,it’s been commonly mistaken by so-called specialists like the IBAR-The Institute for Bio-Acoustics Research,parents and of course our favourite Tipper Gore.But it’s a tribute song to Bon Scott(AC/DC) who died of alcohol abuse.Honestly,do you see any sort of self-harm promoting here?

As you might have heard,according to the IBAR’s analysis,certain sounds and noices recorded provokes slef-harm in the form of a subliminal message to the listner,which Ozzy has obviously denied.(”WTF does “subliminal” mean?”Ozzy asked his lawyer!No,just kidding,he’s not that dumb!)All you subliminal-message-lovers,I’ll tell you this.We all love Ozzy but he’s just Ozzy f*ckin’ Osbourne,and all these “subliminal-messages” and shit,it’s just too much for him to think it all up.He’s a reality T.V dad you bitches,he’s not stupid but he’s just not that intelligent,you know.But we love you Ozzy,we definitely love you!And we love your music.(How’s Sharon doing now?Doesn’t she still talk with Bruce and Iron Maiden?)

Final conclusion-The majority of My Chemical Romance fans are disturbed 13 year old girls!End of story!

what can i say? i totally agree with you on the gay ass emo crap. it’s pathetic. it’s gay. and it’s my chemical romance-aka-hopeless impersonators who are trying to hit it big by copying manson.
But still there are people who like it. live and let live, i would say as i would never give two hoots about a band that’s fan base consists of angsty teenagers who have been ditched by their gay boyfriends.
they will kill themselves in the end anyway, it’s just a matter of time.

As my mate clownfish states, people who like it…. live & let live. To say its gay….. is kind of ……silly. I JUST don’t like it. I just tried listening to it. Reminds me of green day. Sorry Green Day fans. But as far as suicide goes… My heart & prayers got out to Hannah and her family.But as far as My chemical Romance goes…… I saw nothing in at least one song that tells anyone to go kill themselves. Even if it did, come on……. Their website is sort of up beat even. I, myself don’t beleive any music or song can make you want to kill yourself. It has to be there to begin with. Be it family life, chemical inballance or immaturity. Maybe to want to get the bands attention… to immature to realize the finality of it. To really understand, its the end…. no coming back to discuss what you did…….. to say wasn’t that cool?! Its sad, and the band should realize the ages of their following & make some sort of statement to its young fans. And being a “cutter” they love the numb feelings. Or it distracts other feelings. Don’t remember. But usually their hurt to begin with. Very sad really. Music is to have fun…..party….. to inspire…… to relate and to even make one think or not have to think.

Well, I just wanted to say that I listen to all types of music…I love it all from Korn to Ozzy to My Chemical Romance and back again. Just as a correction so you don’t have to do research, MCR’s lyrics promote “never letting anyone bring you down,” and “not taking anyone’s shit.” In my opinion that’s hardly what they call “emo.” It also says in all the articles that the girl was only listening to the band for two weeks. I don’t know about you guys, but if I’ve only been listening to a band for two weeks, they don’t have too much influence on me yet.

my prayers go out to hannah i mean she was 13 years old but god only nos wot was going on in her life..as far as emos go i hate them they send out a bad image for the rock world wer all being branded with the same iron like.. the should just cop the fuck on and look at some people with real problems..as far as my chem do.. i think they are crap cntn sing their lyricsc are lame some of there riffs are good..but thats my view.. my sissters likes them thou..i dont like her listing to them over this hole the promote suicide thing but what the fuck can i do.. but hell if one man can live in the perfect world in his dreams why cant we make it a reality..oh yeah slipknot rock..

I am trying to write an assignment for university discussing stereoypes in the media but i am finding it very difficult with all this narrow-mindedness. Why can’t you take a step back an look at the bigger picture. Why do you listen to metal for example? Do you like the stereotypes that are associated with that…? No I am sure you don’t. I thought once that alternative music whether this metal, emo or punk promotes indiviulaism and the idea of not judging people for who they are. I listen to korn, slipknot, my chemical romance, fall out boy oh and my favourite band are metallica. Yeah there is some music i do not like at all however I don’t discriminate against it. Sorry to all you ‘metal heads’ that i am not strictly a one music genre girl i like it all and i accept people for what ever they are and what ever they like. Hannah was a young girl, it was not the music she listened to that drove her to suicide it was her state of mind at the time.

there is nothing about my chemical romance that promotes suicide!!! they are actually big promoters of GETTING HELP because two of their band members have struggled with depression.
saying that listening to my chemical romance caused this girl’s suicide is pure bullshit!!!
idk if they parents just needed someone to blame or what, but mcr SAVES lives…they dont promote ending them!!!!!!!!

You can like whatever the hell you want, no one cares. But when it comes to music being used for profit like this, we are free to rip this shit apart.
I read an article on the MCR DVD or whatever and it was supposed to come in a coffin shaped box… Yes, a coffin is a harmless symbol, but when you tie it to their image, genre, and kill-count it speaks a different message. Whether this is a sick marketing gimmick or not, it’s in bad taste.
And you can’t say what truly killed Hannah. The mind is a very sensitive thing and at the young age of 13 a lot of things change. You have puberty and social acceptance mixing to form an unstable cocktail. Entertainment (Movies, Music, Magazines, etc) often becomes a teenagers best friend (because of stuff like teen angst), anything they hear, see, or read is very sensitive material. Parent’s tend to become a chore to talk to because they ‘don’t understand’, so media takes the center stage. This is not a bad thing if the individual can retain control and understanding of what they absorb and this is becoming harder with today’s world. Things today are very different from 10 years ago. America is obese, depressed, constantly picking fights, losing power, and becoming dumber every day. The government is losing it’s mind and shit is spiraling out of control everywhere (the world is going down the drain). The world is in chaos and the children that are living through this are also going through chaos within themselves as well. So when you throw a ’stabilizer’ (media/music/EMO) into the equation which should help the person retain control it will instead only help send them further off course.
I’ve done my research and I listen to all form of music too, but they is a clear line between ‘good’ music and ‘bad’ music. We have kids now at 14-15 years old getting knock up because ‘Sex is cool’ and it’s everywhere, we now have 8 year olds pulling guns and killing people to get into a gang because it’s ‘cool’ and everywhere (also the government not punishing them helps it spread too). We now have an increase in suicide rates because the world is depressed and we respond by taking no shit from them and making them feel sorry by suicide. Nothing hurts worse than knowing you helped cause someone’s death, right? It would kill me.
This is a psychological mindfuck. It is done whether they know it or not (intentional or subliminal), so the best solution is to stay the hell away from it, unfortunately it’s one hell of a money machine. And the more people that fall to it, the more controversial and appealing it becomes. It rouses up the sense of “well, they couldn’t handle it but I can” ego, which is one thing that helps spread drugs so widely, “Well, nearly killed John the other day… so it must be some good shit.”
Whether you agree or not it’s all there. It is a tried and true method. Shit like Cigarettes, McDonald’s, War propaganda all use the same damn tactics. But this is also a rather large-scale issue so it will be close to impossible to come to an agreement between both sides and this will drive it to success. This is why music is a great tool, it’s interpretational - just like religion. And just like how governments use religion, they will use music, and by using music they can have a fresh army in only a couple years… but that ties into other subjects…
Bottom line is this is meant to be debatable because if you can’t concretely prove it, then it can’t be stopped. If it can’t be stopped they win.

It’s unimaginable what the media has become today, corrupted and money hungry to unbelievable lengths. They don’t give a fuck about good entertainment anymore, hell they can’t give a rats ass if they bore you to death because if they make boocoos of cash what fuck do they give? Money is becoming worshipped by our government, the gas companies, the media industry and by others who are big commercial success! Emo and Gangsta Rap have become serious drugs today, destroying the mainstream making a media religion out of it! There is either the suicide or the killing, the raping and more, I’d say our whole world has gone ‘TOTALLY FUCKING INSANE’ and they won’t stop probably until all those psychos of suicide or killing for fun finally kill each other off! On the other hand the rest of the world suffers while the scenes make our lives hell! The world has become hell itself in a nutshell, murder, war, misery, crime and hatred, it’s like they all forgot who Jesus was (pfft like they care who he is really they’re all sinners after all!) the 2000’s have become the death of us all! And lord I pray that the 2010’s will be better hopefully! My prayers are with Sophie Lancaster and Hannah knowing this new beast of chaos has claimed them both beneath its wrath through the media! God help this world and this generation I am not of.
