Call this a tribute post if you want, I don’t really care. In fact I have half a mind to start writing one post every week about Metal Gods I wish to pay tribute to. Whatever.

It was when I came across the above video-which happens to be Strapping Young Lad’s trailer for their DVD The Chaos Years (click here to open video in new tab)-how much I love this band.Devin Townsend is just one amazing son of a bitch, who has developed a habit of delivering 150 fucking percent with everything he touches. And with every single word coming out of his mouth-somewhere on Earth-a politician masturbates!

I am really not sure how my awareness of Strapping Young Lad came, but what I am sure of is,since then I’ve started seeing things differently. The amazing thing about Strapping Young Lad is-it’s very difficult to lable thier music as “this” or “that”.It’s best to call them extreme metal ’cause you know they’re “extreme-something”.But “Industrial Thrash” would make sense too. But fuck!It’s not just the musical intelligence of Strapping Young Lad made them the cheekiest bastards in the industry-it’s the fact that they had a live show which would rape every single taboo that comes their way. 

If you are one of those idiots who believe in the bullshit theory of  “shitty production+no album sales at all=underground”-you have Strapping Young Lad to prove you that you can raise your middle finger to everything under the sun and still sell albums doing just that . What I love about Strapping Young Lad is, they always do stuff that seems much more deep than what it really looks like-ok,that’s freaking UNIVERSAL when it comes to heavy music but you get the point here.It just takes everything a step ahead of just sheer Irony and sarcasm.

Enough talking-you know how much I love Strapping Young Lad now-I just can’t imagine why I don’t have their DVD “The Chaos Years”,so all you musical whores out there who don’t have the record-find your orgasm in the trailer!!!
