The Encyclopedia of Swedish Death Metal-seemingly genuine attempt with a little bit of “Tape Hiss=Underground” bullshit!
This year has so far been massive as far as Metaliterature is concerened.Everything from “The Bloody Reign of SLAYER” to “True Norwegian Black Metal“.And now there’s going to be an Encyclopedia on Swedish Death Metal,or rather “1988-1992 Swedish Death Metal”.This “limitation” is the only bit I consider to be the “Tape Hiss=Underground Bullshit”(I really can’t think of a better way to describe it) because the likes of Dark Tranquility to At the Gates are still running strong, and I still honestly see the same wibe in them.Apart from that this seems like a genuinely underground attempt. And the author’s after 1992 is “WHO CARES” analogy is something I strongly disagree with.

According to the author’s myspace-the book will be in English, comprising of 218 black and white A4 pages featuring the oldschool-esque,zine feel.Yes,and that is something I love. And if 218 pages of oldschool Swedish Death Metal can’t keep you occupied, you are really not that metal,I suggest you go and listen to DISTURBED’s new album.
The author reveals that he’s been working on this since 2005.And just pay a visit to the mysace and see the list of interviews stated there.Honestly I don’t know some of the acts he’s mentioned but,for some wierd reason I see a lot of “wibe” there and this really is growing on me already.I have a habit of turning a blind eye to things like this, but this looks superb.I am really, honestly looking forward to it.
And don’t take the “Tape Hiss” bit too much seriously, this is going to be a superb book-at least I hope.
