The Opeth String Tribute is really ugly!!!

In fact,I don’t know whether Opeth know about this.I’ve always loved String Tribute albums.I loved the Manson String Tribute,I loved their very first Zeppelin String Tribute,the TOOL String Tribute was phenomenal,and yes the very predictable Metallica String Tribute was good too.But this is really, really, really ugly!!!

Before anything, let me give you the tracks they’ve covered;

01. Porcelain Heart
02. Windowpane
03. Bleak
04. Harvest
05. Death Whispered a Lullaby
06. In My Time of Need
07. Dirge for November
08. Soldier of Fortune
09. The Funeral Portrait
10. Hope Leaves

I am very sorry if that looks a tad too predictable(except for “Porcelain Heart”),that’s the way they’ve done it.When I reached the bottom of the list-I was wondering why they don’t have “Patterns in the Ivy”!!!

When it comes to artistes like Opeth,who are capable of compressing and stuffing an immense amount of musical intelligence into 8 minutes,TRIBUTE often reads COVER,because they don’t leave anything much to be added.So most of the time it’s just ripping off what they’ve already done.You know what I mean don’t you?I fell in love with the Manson String Tribute because it gave me something the original Manson didn’t offer,it was very different from the original Manson but still very Manson.This is just ripping off Opeth!

Still don’t get it?

Well,see-”Bleak” has a lot of string work in it,”Windowpane” is a bloody String Tribute itself.So if someone’s doing a string tribute of them,it’s just covering Opeth.No innovation nothing what so ever!Do a Percussion or Symphonic Tribute-then we’ll nod our heads.Or try doing a String Tribute for “Baying of the hounds” or “The Grand Conjuration”-not bitchin’ “Windowpane”!

I keep repeating this-it’s just ripping off Opeth,and presenting it in a new cover-nothing more than that.Names like Opeth sell-they sell big and for once I hate the String Tribute for just making money off Opeth’s sweat and blood!!!
