Just imagine;”Metallica” written in a way you have never seen,very little publicity,a tagline that follows “the essential critical review of the hardest rocking band in the world.”,and the magic word “Unauthorized“.Hell!!!You know what this means;controversy,controversy and more bloody controversy!

But see,you are going to wait for some time to get your hands on this so-called “Unauthorized documentary”,because the release is due on 10th June this year.

You have seen these types of “Unauthorized” docs that are stuffed with shit loads of so called “expert,unauthorized” insight,and if you know your metal,you know this is either going to be the next big thing as far as “All things Metallica” are concerned or the most pompous heap garbage you get to see.Yeah,I said pompous!

The first disc of the DVD is said to be full with the history of the band.You know the usual stuff,how it was formed in L.A,an “insightful” review of “Kill ‘em All“,you know,the usual crap!The second focuses more on the history after the death of Cliff Burton to the “seminal masterpiece St.Anger“.This will cause more controversy I believe.One reason why I am expecting this alot is,as you may have realised,I want to see if this is genuine or just utter shit.Reason number two is:  agree or not,I believe St.Anger was an amazing record,despite the situation they recorded it,as shown on “Metallica:Some kind of monster”.In my point of view it took a bit of a breaker from the most generic thrash we’ve known and presented it in a more “Metallic” frame.

Whatever said,you’ll have to wait till the 10th June this year to see what this whole “unauthorized DVD” is.

And by the way:the Documentary is called “Metallica:The Halcyon Days”

Am I stereotyped or is it fair to look at these things in a “Oh no,not another MTV documentary!” point of view?Comments welcome!
